FERSPENSION CALCULATOR

Calculation methodology

Benefit tools apply only the rule subset stated on the page. Savings and withdrawal tools use editable arithmetic scenarios. Money display uses two decimals; internal projections retain precision. Tests cover worked examples, dates, boundaries and invalid values. High-3 averaging is a selected-window approximation rather than a full OPM calculation. Each calculator states its scope and exclusions.

FERS pension calculator

Annual amount = high-3 basic salary × creditable years and whole months × standard accrual factor. The factor is 1.1% for age 62 or older with at least 20 entered whole years; otherwise 1%. This is a base amount, not a payable annuity. No MRA plus 10 reduction, eligibility decision, part-time adjustment, disability, special category or CSRS component is included.

FERS retirement eligibility

The tool derives completed age months at separation and compares the OPM birth-year MRA with standard age/service thresholds. Civilian service must be at least five years. Deposits, refunded contributions, special categories, disability, VERA and insurance eligibility are not assessed. Confirm every result with the agency benefits office.

High-3 salary window calculator

Enter consecutive pay-rate periods covering exactly your selected three-calendar-year window. End dates are exclusive. Each annual basic pay rate is weighted by actual calendar days in its interval. This planning approximation does not search your full career for the highest window or reproduce OPM day-count conventions, partial service or special pay treatment.

Retirement savings growth

Net annual growth factor = (1 + annual return) × (1 − annual asset fee). Convert this effective factor to a monthly rate. Add the combined contribution at each month end. Today’s-money values divide by cumulative assumed inflation. Contributions stay flat in nominal terms. Returns are constant scenarios, not forecasts; no tax, contribution room or benefit eligibility is calculated.

CPP claiming comparison

The supplied age 65 monthly estimate is reduced 0.6% for each month before 65 or increased 0.7% for each month after 65, between ages 60 and 70. The comparison holds the underlying entitlement constant. Future contributions, dropout provisions, enhancements, tax, inflation and survivor interactions can change actual amounts. It does not estimate entitlement from earnings history.

Canada retirement income gap

Sum the three entered monthly gross income amounts and subtract them from the spending target. A positive difference is a shortfall. A negative difference is reported as a surplus. All inputs must refer to the same year and purchasing-power basis. Tax and changing benefit start dates are not modeled.

Sum each supplied annual pension forecast from its selected calendar start year onward. The first year is treated as a full year. Enter all forecasts already converted to euros and the same price basis. This does not calculate national entitlements, treaty tax, exchange rates, eligibility aggregation or application decisions.
