CPP claiming comparison

Compare CPP at 60, 65 and 70 using your supplied age-65 pension estimate. Explore the monthly age adjustment for an earlier or later Canada Pension Plan start.

Your scenario

Method and limitations

The supplied age 65 monthly estimate is reduced 0.6% for each month before 65 or increased 0.7% for each month after 65, between ages 60 and 70. The comparison holds the underlying entitlement constant. Future contributions, dropout provisions, enhancements, tax, inflation and survivor interactions can change actual amounts. It does not estimate entitlement from earnings history.

Compare CPP start ages using your own forecast

This comparison isolates the age adjustment. Changing when you stop work or contribute can also change the underlying pension. Use your Service Canada estimate and consider taxes, other income and personal circumstances before choosing a start date.

Worked example

For an unchanged age-65 estimate of CAD 1,000 per month, the age-adjusted comparison is CAD 640 at 60 and CAD 1,420 at 70.
